Good Morning and Happy New Year
We at Abstract Energy Studios wish you a wonderful start to the new year!
Why not start it off with some refreshing graphics for your company?
I heard a strange thing on the radio today. I don't go for astrology (the Myers-Briggs personality test is more telling than any horoscope will ever be. I'm an INFP, by the way.), but as I was driving in to the office they had a lady come on who was the expert on how the stars and planets deal with our well being here on earth.
Did you have a turbulent 2013? I sure did. I think this lady mentioned something about a Southern Cross or whatnot, but the planets have been acting and aligning a certain way that has caused great disturbances in the force. This deal started in 2008 (stock market crash, anyone?), and will continue until 2015. Hmm, not too hopeful, but she says the worst is behind us as we enter into an age of Aquarius (all I can thing of is that one 60's song- was it the age of Aquarius then? I wouldn't mind a resurgence of Woodstock haha).
All of this turbulence since 2008 (the Arab Spring, Occupy Wall Street, etc.), was necessary to bring all of society into a higher state of consciousness. Sounds pretty goofy, but I do believe that all of this craziness that has been going on lately will be leading up to something positive even though I don't put my hopes into star systems.
I met my husband in 2008, and in turn Abstract Energy was formed at that time. We sure did have some tough times, and some great ones as well. I do like the idea of 2014 being more easy-going than 2013, and I love the idea of change because it tends to get rid of things that suck (if not that, it does keep my interest!).
Stay positive you guys!
Till later,
Megan

Branding Basics
Hi there from Abstract Energy!
Have you ever given thought to the image you are projecting in your day to day life? Or maybe you even have a business or product you're really wanting to sell without results.
The image you project with any of this is called your "brand"- and that's something I specialize in!
Think of it like a theme for a party. As soon as guests receive an invitation in the mail for your event. They are exposed to the brand of your party. Let's think back to childhood- maybe you were having a princess or pirate party back then. The invite is going to reflect that idea.
When the guests arrive, they will instantly be connected with the imagery displayed on the invitation. Your mom or dad probably hung streamers, put of plates, and had a cake with a princess or pirate on it. Maybe your folks were really creative and made you a special costume. No doubt about it though, the guests wouldn't have been confused as to what kind of party this was and what it had to offer them.
It goes the same way with yourself and your business- your business card is like an invitation for others to do business with you. It should attract attention and supply all the necessary information to the potential client.
If the invitation is the preview, then your website or place of business should be the full feature film. In every detail your company's theme should shine through.
Think of places with good branding- Starbucks, Apple, Target. You can see the elements of their brand in every facet of their company. I think of Starbucks and see their signature color green, the brown of coffee and their cardboard drink slips, and the iconic mermaid. Apple hardly even needs an explanation because it has permeated our lives so deeply already here in America. I always prefer a Target generic product to a Walmart generic product. Target's products always have a fresh design sense in mind whether it's through clever wording or package design. Plus, being in a Target store feels so much better than Walmart- the red color scheme is nice to look at, products are arranged nicely, and the company's logo is worked into pretty patterns throughout the store.
Your company has the potential to grow into an iconic brand like the places I have listed above, but you have a brand worth growing first- one that customers will love and want to be a part of. Abstract Energy Studios is the place to start.

Too Tired to be Important
This morning I can't help over-analyzing my productivity, Perhaps its the new year that's approaching, but I'm frustrating myself with an endless inquisition.
Is my life where I want it to be right now? I don't think it is, but how the heck do I get it the way I want it.
I was telling my husband last night how I've been feeling obsessed to make something that matters...I wanna make some art or do something important that people are going to care about.
The problem currently is that no one gives a flying flip what I'm doing or not doing.
I'm a sucker for attention, and I'll admit I've done crazy things in the past just to get some admiration. Without positive attention I wither. I shrivel away under any type of criticism, and its something I need to get over since I've been told the vast majority of people in the world are jerks not as sensitive as I am.
Maybe if I start writing again I can get my life sorted out a little better. My thoughts have been so supremely scattered and vague that I feel like I'm dealing with Alzheimer's at age 23. It's nothing to laugh about, since my great-grandmother on my dad's side died from it and my great-grandmother on my mom's side is currently struggling with it.
Oh well. Hopefully I can start doing something important soon. In the meantime, I'm just too freakin' tired all time.
(that was slightly sarcastic, but I truly do have an issue with constant fatigue, no matter how much I sleep. It's quite a disabling problem, indeed.)

Women Scrolling on Pinterest
Inspired by my husband's quote: "Women scrolling on Pinterest is like a cat unrolling an infinite roll of toilet paper" Possibly meaningless but oh so amusing.
